The choice of materials can make or break a grand format printing project, especially for outside applications like building wraps, billboards and some banners that need to remain in sturdy condition for long periods of time. Under those circumstances, the durability to withstand environmental damage from wind, extreme temperatures and direct sunlight becomes paramount for your clients.

On the other hand, beautiful and delicate polyester-based fabrics like satin or ultra sheer capture attention indoors. In either case, the type of materials used will determine the lifespan of the project and whether it succeeds for your clients. Grand Image offers a wide range of materials to suit any purpose.

13oz Vinyl – Up to 196”

This strong, scrim-reinforced vinyl is available as matte or gloss and is the Grand Image standard substrate in the vinyl family. Combined with its 500-denier strength and proper finishing, it can be used to cover buildings. Pliability makes it great for billboards and widely used for indoor graphics. The material is also available with a black back for opacity.

15oz Smooth Blockout Vinyl – Up to 126”

Best used for indoor graphics, this double sided, smooth-surfaced vinyl allows for a poster-like look and feel with the tear-resistant properties of a scrim vinyl. At only 250 denier, this product is recommended for indoor applications only. This product can print double sided on the same piece of material.

18oz Blockout Vinyl – Up to 126”

Sometimes, you can never have a strong enough vinyl. At 1000 denier, this vinyl may seem like overkill for some applications, but its extreme strength could provide the best defense against the onslaught of weather. This product can print double sided on the same piece of material.

16oz Backlit Vinyl – Up to 196”

For use with large light boxes, this strong scrim vinyl is ideal for outdoor backlit applications.

7oz Mesh Vinyl – Up to 72”

Offering 30% blow through, there is no need for wind vents to run through your logos or put your message off course.. This mesh vinyl is most popular with fence graphics encompassing construction sites or outdoor events.

9oz Mesh Vinyl – Up to 196”

At a tighter weave, this mesh vinyl is opaque enough for indoor graphics without losing the essence of the message in the holes. Because the blow through rate is 20%, building wraps and other large outdoor signage with wind exposure experience superior longevity compared to regular vinyl. This product can print double sided on the same piece of material, but elements must be mirrored in order to avoid interference.

Poly Canvas Substrates – Up to 196”

Our standard poly canvas material offers decent opacity in the presence of backlight and strength for short-term outdoor applications when your customer wants a step up from vinyl. The light canvas is less opaque and more pliable for wrapping intricate frames or columns. Our artist canvas (up to 126”) is a textured canvas for indoor application and is used when customers want to recreate the look of a traditional canvas.

Self Adhesive Vinyl (SAV) Substrates – Up to 60”

Grand Image offers SAV and laminates for various backlit, decal, transit, barricade, dry wall, and floor applications.

Powerstretch

This heavy weight stretch fabric provides a decent amount of opacity and great definition on all colors. This fabric gives equal stretch in both directions and offers excellent wrinkle-resistant characteristics. Powerstretch is recommended for pop-up trade show booths.

Heavy Knit

Made of 100% polyester and weighing 9oz, this warp knit fabric is known for heavy weight and moderate opacity. It provides solid definition on all colors and resists wrinkling.

Flagcloth

The most widely used material for flags and banners, this product makes an excellent outdoor banner fabric.

Sunbrella

Made of 100% woven acrylic, this fabric works for long-term outdoor use with excellent depth of color and detail when printed. Use as an ideal product for awnings, pole banners, and other forms of outdoor advertising.

Ultrasheer

This 100% polyester, warp-knit fabric is used in various sleek banner and tradeshow exhibition applications that call for the image to be visible from both sides of the fabric.

Semi Opaque

This three-layered woven fabric is made of 100% polyester with 76% yarn. Tightly woven to minimize space between yarns, this product yields excellent print quality and opacity.

Blockout

Tightly woven to minimize space between yarns, this fabric produces outstanding print quality and opacity beyond most other products. It features a layer of black fabric in the middle to make it completely opaque and allow for double sided printing.

Hercules

This woven texturized yarn fabric is 100% polyester. It produces extremely vibrant color and definition.

Eco Soft Knit

This warp knit fabric is eco-friendly and contains recycled materials. Made of polyester, this product offers great definition and a very high quality print desirable for banners, signs and trade show exhibits.
